Studied

Thinking in data

At NUS, I found that I enjoyed approaching business questions through data: breaking a problem down, looking for patterns, and testing ideas. Learning to code and studying machine learning and optimisation gave me more ways to investigate those questions.

Internship

The result

The project brought together two perspectives: helping customers discover merchants, and helping merchants identify potential customers.

MFNCF

Neural collaborative filtering clearly beat matrix factorization in offline top-K precision and recall, for merchants customers hadn’t visited yet.

Turning analysis into lending decisions

I work on the decisions behind car financing: who qualifies, how much they pay upfront, and when collateral is required, balancing business growth, access to financing and the risk of customers being unable to repay.

I investigate performance with SQL and Python, turn findings into recommendations, and follow decisions through testing, rollout and monitoring.
